Bicycle-Construction of bicycle paths as part of the development of ecological transport in the district of Nowysol

The aim of the project is to reduce low emissions in cities through the construction of a bicycle path as a transport corridor of the Novosol district and to raise the awareness of the inhabitants of the voivodship about the benefits of environmentally friendly modes of transport. The tasks are carried out within the framework of comprehensive projects linking infrastructure investments (Type I) with information and promotion activities (Type IV). The project is implemented in a partnership of 5 communes Nowa Sól- Miasto, Municipality of Nowa Sól, the Municipality of Otyń, Kożuchów and Kolsko, as well as the Nowasol County as a leader. The need for a functional bicycle route results from surveys carried out and the necessity of the needs of the project partners reported by municipalities. The planned investment concerns the interconnection of bicycle roads and pedestrian-bicycles of the communes of the Novosol district: Nowy Sól – Miasto, Nowa Sól, Otyń, Kolsko and Kożuchów, in order to provide access to jobs, educational and service facilities in the district of Nowasol and ensure better communication between municipalities and the region. The total length of the built paths is 48.20 km. Its route follows the inactive railway line No. 371 Wolsztyn – Żagań, within the boundaries of the Nowasol County, Lubuskie Voivodeship. The investment will be linked to the existing network of bicycle roads in the county and neighbouring districts. Period of implementation of the project: The second quarter of 2016 – fourth quarter of 2019. The information and promotion campaign envisages comprehensive ICT-enhancing activities aimed at increasing the use of green transport in the district of Novosol, while increasing public awareness of the environment of residents of the county and the region.
