The main objective of the project is to reduce low emissions in Ciechanów by creating conditions for the development of non-motorised transport and public transport in the transport lines leading to a separate industrial district by building 3.689 km of bicycle paths together with the infrastructure accompanying the period up to 30.06.2018. The project assumes the construction of currently non-existent bicycle paths, reconstruction and construction of a total of 3.842 km of walkways and modernisation of 2.108 km of roadways along the street. In addition, the project envisages the use of bicycle infrastructure, including car parks for bicycles, bicycle self-service points and the level difference between the cycle path and the pavement. Current street lighting will be converted to energy-efficient, resulting in savings of 28.04 MWh per year. Thanks to the implementation of the project, a comprehensive combination of workplaces and service and commercial facilities located on these streets will be created with almost all city settlements by including bicycle paths built within the so-called “bike paths” in the network. The bicycle paths covered by the project are not part of the tourism and recreational infrastructure, as they are designed to increase the use of non-motorised transport, individual citizens, better integration of transport modes, lower pollutant emissions, noise reduction and safety. The project was included in the Investment Plan for the Ciechanowski subregion covered by problem CSIs within the Regional Territorial Investments (project no. 3 in the first bundle of low emissions reduction projects). The investment plan was adopted by the Management Board of Mazovia Voivodship Resolution No. 1106/166/16 of 12.07.2016. The project is in accordance with the Low-Emission Economy Plan for the City of Ciechanów adopted by resolution No 195/XVII/2016 of the Ciechanów City Council of 25.02.2016.
