The aim of the project is to create the conditions for the development of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and to increase the role of urban transport as an alternative to individual motorisation in Ciechanów. Due to the high level of CO2 emissions emitted by local transport in Ciechanów, Ciechanów Municipality is working to reduce low emissions. The project is based on interconnected and complementary activities that will result in CO2 reduction. As part of the project, Park & Ride will be established at the PKP station. There will be a total of 208 parking spaces, 40 parking spaces for bicycles, bus bays, sidewalks, bicycle paths (0.15 km) and accompanying infrastructure. At the same time, on the street. Sienkiewicz will create 1.32 km of bicycle paths to facilitate access to P&R using non-motorised transport. As part of this project, a newly designed district road will be created for the development of public transport in Ciechanów and in the functional area. Within the new road there will be 6.67 km of bicycle paths which will make it easier for residents of new satellite settlements from the Municipality of Ciechanów and the commune of Opinogóra Górna to reach work, school and public utility facilities. In addition, low-emission rolling stock in the form of two buses (1 electric and 1 with an engine with Euro VI emission standard) will be purchased for the development of the public transport network. The proposal covers two complementary projects included in the RIT Investment Plan for the Cichanowski sub-region in the first bundle of projects, including the main project. The whole project is in line with the Low-Emission Economy Plan for the City of Ciechanów adopted by resolution no. 195/XVII/2016 of the Ciechanów City Council dated 25.02.2016. The project was included in the Local Programme of Regeneration entered in the Mazowieckie voivodship.
