Studies on the use of extra-systemic modification of T and B lymphocytes in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and cancerous diseases in dogs and cats, and studies on the use of cell therapies in veterinary neurology and orthopaedics.

The aim of the project is to equip immunological laboratories and cell culture laboratory, then develop new veterinary services in the field of individualised therapy. In particular, it concerns the use of autologous stem cells and autologous cells multiplied in vitro and subsequent donation to the patient at specific sites of the body. These cells are designed to repair or replace diseased tissues. Another group of services will be based on extra-system modified immune cells, mainly T lymphocytes and immunoplasmapheresis. The implementation of the project is three stages. The first stage is the purchase of research equipment, the second is the implementation of laboratory scale methods and their improvement and testing of the safety of therapy. The third phase is the implementation of developed and proven procedures for therapeutic practice and their commercialisation. The model assumptions and preliminary observations carried out earlier in other studies are very promising. The test plan shall be carefully drawn up and prepared by the Applicant. Some of the studies will be carried out in cooperation with the Institute of Zootechnics in Balice. In addition to scientific cooperation, the applicant will be able to use the research infrastructure of the listed centres in the field of cariotyping and flow cytometry. The results of the partial studies will be published in the form of scientific papers and reports. The sale of new services will be based on cooperation with other clinics and veterinary clinics. Cell treatment, modern immunotherapy and the preparation of therapy for a particular patient are the fastest growing areas of medicine. This is the future in cancer treatment and regenerative medicine. Thanks to the implementation of the project, the applicant will enrich his offer with products unique in the country. All investments under the co-financing of the project concern only research equipment.
