Development of the district heating network in Zakopane by investing in connection to the geothermal network and replacing old boilers for new equipment installations for gaseous fuels and biomass.

The project aims to improve air quality in Zakopane by reducing emissions of poisonous dust and greenhouse gases. It concerns the development of the district heating network by supporting residents to connect to the grid and to increase the number of green gas, biomass and heat pumps. The investment will be to develop a district heating network, in the case of Zakopane geothermal, by supporting city residents with individual farms in the process of connecting to the grid. The support will be based on co-financing the connection of the farm to the existing heating network and the modernisation of the internal installation in order to adapt to the requirements. At the same time, the applicant foresees support for individual households when replacing old coal boilers with new appliances using gas, biomass and heat pumps. The investment will be based on the purchase and assembly of a new device with support in the modernisation of the internal installation at the time of the need. This type of investment will be carried out at a time when there will be no technical or economic capacity for connection to the heating network in a given area and there will be no such possibility until 2023.The selected households, which will be the final recipients of the project, will first be subject to an energy audit that will indicate whether the facility requires a deep energy modernisation process or meets the requirements of the UMWM description in Part Q.The applicant will carry out the following actions: exchange of heat sources in 500 individual farms for connection to a heating network or replacing an existing coal boiler with new appliances for gaseous fuels, biomass or heat pump activities for raising environmental awareness, promoting environmentally friendly attitudes and a sense of responsibility for the state of the environment, among the direct recipients of the Cd.wQ project’s effects
