“Let’s meet in the yard” – Revitalisation of the quarters of buildings in Nowa Huta

The aim of the project is to revitalise the interiors of the quarters of buildings in the old Nowa Huta in cooperation with residents, so that common spaces are created to encourage residents, especially seniors, to spend their free time there, to integrate, to create various forms of activity. For this reason, it was decided to implement the investment in the design and construction and development of functional-use programmes at the first stage of the project, which will be the basis for arrangements with residents. At the next stage, a workshop will be carried out in each of the selected backyards, with the participation of residents and landscape architects, in order to develop more detailed spatial concepts, which will respond to the real needs of future users, including people with disabilities. The project then envisages a comprehensive revitalisation of these spaces, renovation and modernisation of the backyard infrastructure i.e. greenery, small architecture, squares, playgrounds, communication lines, etc. The works referred to as renovation will improve the quality and operating conditions of the element and will increase its value as a permanent agent. It is also planned to invite willing residents to co-create this space by, among others, planting additional plants.Functional Useful Programmes, annexed to this proposal, contain a general catalogue of expenditure that can be implemented in each of the 8 quarters, including: dismantling existing elements of small architecture assembling elements of small architecture, such as: benches, garbage bins, multifunctional seats, bicycle stands, masking pergolas, elements limiting the entrance to the green, laundry drying structures, artistic installation of resistance walls, shelter vents, information board replacement and retrofitting of lighting poles; construction and installation of a playground.
