The aim of the “Research and Innovation Grants” project is to stimulate the demand for innovation and to promote R & D & I activities by Podlaskie micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The project consists of the creation and management of the grant fund. Grants will be allocated to the financing of business development projects with a total value of approx. PLN 10.6 million. — to improve the competitiveness of Podlasie SMEs. Co-financing will be granted to entrepreneurs’ expenditure on the purchase of research services, intellectual property rights, patents, licences, know-how, technological audits, support for the transition of patent protection procedure. The total value of the project is PLN 12 247 745.31, of which funding from the WP ROP – PLN 9,999 999,99. The project will be implemented from 17.01.2017 to 14.01.2019. The factor determining the economic development of the region should be mainly the growth of the scale of business activity i.e. growth in sales value, margin growth and employment growth. All this depends on increasing competitiveness and meeting the expectations of the market. R & D & I activities are one of the ways to achieve competitive market advantages and thus increase the size of the company’s activities. The grant project is based on the above-mentioned logic of intervention. The project is part of a comprehensive SME R & D & I support policy and focuses on the support of companies with internal barriers to reducing demand for R & D & I activities and their ability to: mental barriers, competences, due to shortages of technical and human resources, fears of economic risks, capital shortages, etc. A simple and attractive offer of grants should encourage and motivate entrepreneurs to carry out business development projects based on innovative solutions – their own or obtained from external entities.
