Michalowo Municipality intends to implement an undertaking consisting of: — under the Type 1 project – the construction of an energy-efficient distribution heat network with connections to connect municipal buildings to the source of RES heat; — In the framework of the Type 2 project – modernisation of more than 550 street lighting points by replacing existing traditional light sources with LED sources; —As part of the project type 4 – installation of air pollution measurement system for particulate matter analysis PM10, PM2,5, PM1,0 and other external parameters. The main objective of the project is to improve the state of the environment, including, above all, improving the condition of air quality locally, through modernisation of lighting, the construction of an energy-efficient thermal network and installations of the pollution measurement system in Michałowo since 2020. The project will be implemented in the fourth quarter of 2018 and IV quarter of 2020. The eligible value of the project is over PLN 5.2 million, of which 80 % is a grant. Each project element to be implemented aims to reduce emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The project will have a positive impact on the protection of the environment and human health, resulting in an ecological effect in the form of CO2 reduction (by 100 % for the construction of the thermal grid with connections and by more than 78 % in the case of modernisation of street lighting). This investment is included in the drafted and accepted Low-Emission Economy Plan – “Low-carbon Economy Plan for Michałowo Municipality 2015-2020”. Michałowo commune is a member of the energy cluster “energyRegion Michałowo”, which covers the area of the commune.
