The project concerns improving the quality of public transport in the city of Suwałki. The project was designed to: — purchase of 15 low-emission CNG buses (including 3 pcs with a length of approx. 10.5 m, 1 pcs length approx. 18 m and 11 pcs with approx. 12 m; — implementation of an urban public bicycle system including, among others, 12 bicycle stations with terminals and 120 bicycles including electric bicycles and tandems; — construction of infrastructure for the operation of urban transport and improving passenger safety (reconstruction of ul. Daszyńskiego includes, among others, the construction of a bicycle path and a sidewalk, a bay and a car stop, exits and extension of the street. The forest with the connection of ul. Raczkowska Street and reconstruction of the intersection of ul. Forest from St. Raczkowska and Wojczyński); — purchase of dynamic passenger information system/ITS (15 monitors and 2 sets of information boards for current buses and 10 electronic boards at stops) – adaptation of the workshop of the PGK building for CNG buses – information and educational activities for the popularisation and promotion of public transport, low and zero transport, public bicycle system (European Day without Car, Environmental Festival, leaflets on the promotion of green transport) CO2, CO, NOx, HC, PM and other harmful compounds. Replacing old and non-compliant vehicle emissions by low carbon units will reduce CO2 emissions by 62.5 %. The purchase of modern rolling stock combined with the urban bike system will lead to a permanent change in the mobility patterns of residents, reduction of congestion and noise reduction.
