The project comprises 2 tasks, i.e. revitalising the building’s former bathhouse for public purposes (task 1) and revitalising some of the adjacent areas in order to create boulevards on the Black Hańcza River in Suwałki (task 2). The total area of revitalised areas will be 5.33 ha. Both tasks are located in the degraded area of the city of Suwałki and are included in the basic revitalisation activities under the “Integrated Revitalisation Programme of the City of Suwałki for the years 2017-2023”. Task 1 includes adapting the historic bathhouse building to a public utility facility with an exhibition space dedicated to the gallery and for cultural and sport services as a back-up of boulevards on the Black Hańcza River in Suwałki in order to carry out numerous activities aimed at revitalising this area of the city. The facility will also include a gastronomic point and a rental of sports equipment. For functional reasons, the project assumes a reconstruction, expansion and superstructure, along with the change of use of the devastated building into a public utility building called “Stara Łaźnia”. Task 2 provides for revitalisation and development of riverside areas and the creation of boulevards on the Black Hańcza River located in the immediate vicinity of the old bathhouse building. The works will include, among others, the construction of pavements, bicycle paths and walking-bike lines, planting greenery (graves and flower meadows) with elements of small architecture, illumination of the area with illumination and power lines. The work will also include regulating the banks of the river with the fortification of the basin (from the bridge to the street). Mickiewicza to the bridge on ul. Kosciuszko), the construction of a recreational waterfront and a canoe slip, a fish float with a boat repair and a footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists.
