The subject of the project is the modernisation of street lighting in the city and the municipality of Chmielnik and its rationalisation in terms of the equipment used and the consumption of electricity. The main objective of the project is to reduce emissions of harmful substances into the air in the area of Chmielnik commune. The objective will be achieved by replacing and dismantling within the city and 9 villages of Chmielnik commune energy-intensive, environmentally harmful incandescent light sources and installation of LED luminaires with high efficiency and low energy consumption. The planned upgrading of lighting will lead to a radical reduction in the power of installed lighting devices and the energy intensity of lighting, thereby reducing emissions of gases into the atmosphere. Decommissioning light sources containing mercury and lead will reduce global pollution. Indicators to be achieved: The amount of electricity saved (MWh/year) – 594,83; Estimated annual decrease in greenhouse gas emissions (tonnes of CO2 equivalent) (CI34) – 495.08. Number of modernised sources of municipal lighting (pieces) – 1384. The objectives of the project and the actions planned to be implemented are in line with the 5 strategic objective of ZIT KOF, the specific objectives for the 6 priority axis of ROP WW 2014-2020, the Investment Priority 4e and the specific objectives of Action 6.2: Promoting low carbon strategies and sustainable urban mobility – ZIT KOF. The project is included in the list of strategic projects implemented in the ZIT KOF formula (p. 195 item 3), the list of projects included in the Revitalisation Programme (Table 61 p. 131), results from the Low-Emission Economy Plan for the Municipality of Chmielnik for the years 2015-2020 (Table 62 p. 106) and is compatible with the program of air protection for Świętokrzyskie voivodship.
