The municipality of Ostrów Wielkopolski is a leading body for 14 public kindergartens, currently attended by 1952 children. In addition, there are 7 other preschool providers in the city, with 376 children attending. Of all children attending kindergartens, about 2 % are disabled children (50 children). A new kindergarten building will be opened in June 2016, providing spaces for 100 children. The building will be moved to Public Kindergarten No. 3, which currently operates 3 preschool branches for 75 children. Thus, the number of preschool places in the new premises will increase by 25 places, which are planned for children of 3 and 4 years old. The transfer of Preschool No. 3 to a new location is due to the adaptation of the former building to the city nursery, which was located in the same place as the kindergarten. The project envisages the creation of 25 new preschool places in a new premises base, extending the offer of the institution described to include classes increasing educational opportunities, i.e. speech therapy, correction and equalisation classes, from corrective gymnastics, which were not organised in previous years. First of all, we intend to secure the necessary teaching posts for the new 25 places in kindergarten (2 posts plus 1 posts of teacher assistance and 1/2 preschool teacher). Next, for children who have identified developmental hazards (25 newly admitted children and 13 children already attending kindergarten) we will conduct a total of 90 hours of extracurricular activities for 12 children, 90 hours of recreational gymnastics for 20 children and correctional training for 6 children. The classes will be conducted by employed specialists – 3 teachers with qualifications.
