EDF Optimal Solutions finances, designs, realises and operates a temperate water network that enhances the water of the Mediterranean Sea and will serve the Ilot Allar. This project has the particularity of providing simultaneously heat and air conditioning to buildings; the network consists of a temperate water loop that connects the calorie recovery room on sea water – located on the port of Marseille – to the heat pumps installed in the basement of the buildings. Thanks to the recovery of calories from sea water, as well as the exchange of calories between offices, housing and businesses, CO2 emissions are reduced by 80 % compared to a solution from fossil fuels.
