Destination Dalarna – Innovative service development, phase II

Goal The overall goal is to, through a joint vision and strategy for the Destination Dalarna cluster initiative, develop the tourism industry so more businesses, both nationally and internationally, are created and thus increase turnover and employment in Dalarna. Project Goals More companies collaborate within the cluster Destination Dalarna that stimulates innovation and product renewal in a structured and systemic way with models industry-adapted for a sustainable tourism industry in Dalarna. Sub-targets: ¿To further develop the business development tool Kurbits and implement 2 pilots – Creating 2 business-driven networks based on the model developed in Phase I – Developing tools/methods/templates to be able to work structured and systemically with the development of the tourism industry and its companies – To develop 1 strategy for sustainability for the cluster – To conduct 2 regional workshop to spread knowledge about what the project has worked with The Project Leader will work closely with Destination Dalarna’s strategy group that constitutes the project’s working group. The project will form groups of participants from companies in the hospitality industry. Furthermore, during the entire project period, the project will communicate with actors from private industry, public support systems and education/research to describe how the project is being developed. Activities The project wants through the activities to achieve increased development among the entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry and to develop the cluster itself. Through the development of tools/methods/templates you get a help-to-self-help tool that the Destination Dalarna cluster initiative can continue to work with. Examples of activities include the development of the IT platform, knowledge travel, workshops and seminars and work with business and product development. In addition, an external evaluator will be used and conduct gap analyses as well as procurement of external analyses and statistics for measuring the company’s development in the cluster. A forecast tool will be developed to assess the needs of the tourism industry in the future. Destinationdalarna.se is the information channel for participating companies. Participation of regional businesses There is a direct link to regional business through the project being aimed at companies in the tourism industry. The main purpose of this collaboration is to network. Within the previous SLIM project, a network of clusters was created in Dalarna that discusses and supports each other in matters related to cluster development. The work on the development of the cluster itself is quite industry-specific. It can be about processes, models and interpersonal relationships. While working with content and the companies in the cluster differ depending on the cluster’s industry connection. Expected result and benefit – The implementation of the business development tools in the range of the market and is the natural choice for business development for tourism companies. That the Business Networks continue and create new business for companies involved – More innovative product/services developed – Measuring methods, analyses and forecasts provide a better basis for decisions for both companies and other decision-makers – That sustainability abet has been concretised and is a help for companies – that digital solutions enhance the experience for guests visiting Dalarna Expected long-term effects – the IT platform VisitDalarna.se is the soft infrastructure that helps companies and event organisers to become better at delivering their services. — The cluster Destination Dalarna has made an exit from Region Dalarna and lives on in another form of organisation. — That Dalarna continues to increase its annual growth both in terms of turnover and employment in terms of tourism and being one of the leaders in the country.
