The overall goal of the project is that small and medium-sized companies in Eastern Sweden reduce their climate impact, are energy efficient and competitive. The project goal is that after the project, 70 % of participating companies have implemented energy efficiency measures or have an action plan. The project will be run according to a model called PIRÖ, Projekt Inom Örebro. The project is based on a preliminary study that showed that there are three main reasons why the potential of energy efficiency is not utilised, one of which is that lack of coordination between actors working with companies. This will include addressing this project. They plan to implement activities based on demonstrating to companies that energy efficiency contributes to better profitability, to coordinate resources and competencies between energy offices, to coordinate other actors both private and public, that advisors also need to include energy efficiency issues in business advisory contexts, etc. The region’s small and medium-sized enterprises are direct target groups for the project and will participate in most of the project’s activities. The expected result is that participating companies have reduced their energy use and that they implement or plan to implement energy efficiency measures. Expected effects in the long term include that energy efficiency is seen as a strategic issue for companies, that they integrate these issues opening into regular operations. It is also expected that the collaboration developed within the framework of the project will remain as a generator for participating actors’ regular activities. That the methods and models used in the project can be disseminated in other regions and nationally.
