The project is a collaborative project between Luleå University of Technology and LTU Business AB. The overall goal is to contribute to the region strengthening its role as Sweden’s leading space region and offering a productive and attractive innovation environment. This creates long-term sustainable growth that attracts people, investments and companies to the region. The project goal is that the space industry in the region has increased its capacity in research and innovation collaboration between academia, industry and actors in the innovation support system. The project has three sub-goals linked to each work package. Interim goal for work package 1 is to establish a Center in Space Engineering at LTU in Kiruna. Part objectives for work package 2 are to examine knowledge building and joint development projects between the aerospace industry and academia. The goal of work package 3 is to initiate an innovation support system around the space industry to take advantage of new knowledge, e.g. technology development in work package 2. In the long term, the project is expected to contribute to the greater importance of the space industry as a regional industry and contribute with new innovations and increased growth.
