The purpose of the project Centre for Visitor Industry Research is to establish a centre for tourism industry research that can serve as a competence support within Dalarna’s designated area of knowledge ¿Innovative Experience Production¿. The overall goal of the project is to create the conditions for developing the competence and innovation capacity of clusters and objectives in Dalarna through strengthened research. Sub-target 1: Create the interface between Dalarna University and the regional industry in the tourism industry. Develop the Centre for Visiting Industry Research as well as cooperation with other regions and research and development actors in Sweden and internationally. Strengthen innovation in the region’s companies through increased knowledge. Knowledge sharing to companies through seminars, workshops and stakeholder meetings and participation in strategic research collaboration and networks to acquire new knowledge. The project will monitor national and international research calls and rig externally funded projects. Sub-target 3: Increase research activity and promote innovation in the region’s companies and organisations. Actively work to increase the number of companies and organisations involved in research collaboration through more companies in the region participating in international R & D projects. Participate in national and EU R & D platforms and initiate new R & D projects with the region’s industry and conduct shorter pre-studies. The project will work with the Industry Council to ensure the relevance of tourism education to the needs of industry. The university’s R & D environment for small and medium-sized enterprises will adapt by developing and adapting labs and test areas Subgoal 4: Develop smart specialisation in Innovative Experience production through collaboration with the region’s actors. Coordinate activities between visitor industry research and clusters in the region to develop towards smart specialisation in Innovative experience production. Developments are monitored and monitored through new methods. Business participation is channeled primarily through cluster organisations. The companies participate through various initiatives, development projects, testing and demonstration, but mainly through knowledge transfer and network activities. The needs of the companies have been identified through feasibility study, RIS3 analysis and through the cluster Destination Dalarna. Expected results are increased knowledge and increased investments in research, development and innovation in visitor destinations and destinations. New development projects have been initiated, some of which have evolved into innovations or business ideas and an increased number of companies participate in international research collaboration. Collaboration between companies and the University has also increased and an attractive infrastructure for research has been built up. Centre for Visitor Industry Research CeTleR has been established and implemented as the obvious knowledge node in the regional work for smart specialisation in the tourism industry and innovative experience industry. In the long term, the project has helped to strengthen research, raise the level of knowledge and strengthen the tourism industry in Dalarna through new innovations, new products, growth and increased employment in the tourism industry in the region. The vision is that in 5 years, research at the Centre for Visitor Industry Research has been established as one of the strongest research and innovation environments in the field in Sweden. Through the centre, a number of research projects have been initiated at Dalarna University and more extensive collaborative projects with clusters, companies and organisations have both been initiated and yielded results. After the project, activities and working methods have been tested, which means that the research centre will be able to manage the project’s results and continue its activities after the end of the project. By raising the level of competence and working with research that benefits the tourism industry’s companies, the status of the industry can also be increased and increased gender equality in the region’s business sector can be achieved.
