The overall aim of the project is strong growth in the regional IT sector, and that its connection to the regional base industry and representatives of a smarter region will be developed to together drive the region’s renewal and digitalisation better than other regions nationally and internationally. In the longer term, the ambition is for the region’s IT sector to reach at least the same proportion of the working population as the Stockholm region, i.e. between 5-8 %. The aim of the project is that more regional small and medium-sized IT companies have strengthened their international competitiveness with regional representatives and owners of needs – created a platform for coordination and mobilisation of important FUI resources in the region – significantly increased their FUI collaboration – become part of globally competitive innovation and growth chains – strengthened their market channels – increased their dialogue investments and their interactions with academia – have been given access to and increased their activities within regional innovation environments-based on the basis of the ongoing needs of the companies. For each such technology area, a Technology Special Interest Group (TechSIG) will be formed to: — Develop an agenda for the field of technology where major challenges and opportunities are described – Map the region’s cutting-edge companies and their “eco-systems” in the field of technology – Identify application areas with particular dependence on the technology field – Establish a network of researchers and companies in the field of technology – Develop tools, methods, prototypes and demonstrators as a basis for the development of competitive products and services for the project’s needs owners. An important focus is on digital platforms with which many of the region’s IT-SMFs can more easily reach larger international markets.
