Revised reformulated targets for change applications Companies in the target group have great potential to grow and develop innovative treatments, goods and services for healthcare. The small companies lack the large companies’ network of contacts, test opportunities and collaboration with healthcare. The companies need help with this to become competitive and grow. The overall goal of the project is that small companies in the Stockholm region have increased their growth, productivity and competitiveness. The goal of the project is that 4-10 companies with fewer than 50 employees, within the region’s life science sector, should be able to take their products out of the early development phases and move into a rapid innovation and growth phase. This is measured as an improvement in Technology Readiness Level (TRL) according to agreement with each company that receives funds. 80 % of the companies will reach their TRL targets. The project will create a platform to coordinate and support innovation-oriented collaborative projects within life science, and establish a model for innovation and business development support for small companies in life science. Initiate and support 4-10 development projects. The project will be led by the main applicant organisation, Region Stockholm, in collaboration with KI Innovations AB, a co-applicant partner. These two organisations form the project organisation. The companies awarded grants will be collaborators in the project. Within the project STHLM Life Scale-Up the small life science companies will run development projects. They are led by the companies themselves but will be supported and coached by the project organisation. After two years, the development project will be mature for investments. The original idea of a product or service should have been proven to be both scientifically and technically, user-friendly and commercially sustainable. In this way, the company must be ready for investments from external parties.
