With transport there are many negative effects linked to which means of transport we choose. The car has a dominant position as a first option, often habitually, both for short and a little longer journeys within the county. This has major effects on health, the environment, surface use, etc. The whole RESAN focuses on sustainable travel with behavioural impact as a goal. Changing travel patterns for both business travel and work commuting to more sustainable has great potential in the transition to a low-carbon economy. The aim of the project is to contribute to a low-carbon economy by coordinating and accelerating the work on sustainable travel in Jönköping County, based on regional cooperation and efficient resource management. Regional support for sustainable travel will support project participants in working systematically with activities related to their action plans. The support for the county’s municipalities, Region Jönköping County and SMEs will reduce carbon dioxide emissions while at the same time as service and work commuting trips become more sustainable through more transport options. The project period is 2017-03-01¿2020-07-01 and funding is sought within the framework of the Regional Development Fund. The project goal is to demonstrate, offer and support the implementation of a number of energy efficient low-carbon and customised alternatives for service and work commuting trips in Jönköping County. The milestones from which the project activities are based are: knowledge support, monitoring sustainable travel figures, behavioural campaigns, rural alternatives, travel advice and bicycle promotion measures. Project owner and project coordinator is Energikontor Norra Småland, where four people divided into about 3,5 services will work with the project together with two project-dedicated full-time travel managers (reseleds are responsible for travel advice and implementation of the activities. They work operationally and closely with pilot municipalities and companies to support the implementation of the various activities. The term ¿traseleader¿is chosen based on the project name) at the county’s largest workplaces Region Jönköping County and Jönköping Municipality respectively. Financiers are Tillväxtverket (EU Regional Structural Fund), Region Jönköping County, Jönköping Municipality and the county’s municipalities and a company. These are also the main target groups even if the target group is broad when sustainable travel affects everyone in society. How the journey to work/school and service is made is connected – we shift roles, activities and thus often means of transport during the day.
