Collective – co-development for the food industry’s Acceleration

The preliminary study “National coordination to stimulate growth in the food industry” shows that it is currently small and medium-sized enterprises (SMF 0-250 employees) that account for the growth of the food industry and that the growth potential is great if companies have access to customised innovation support efforts. In close dialogue with the food companies, through the regional partners, the project will catalyse the gathering of forces between existing regional and national support actors. By jointly meeting the needs of companies and addressing societal challenges within the environment, health and integration, companies are given resource-optimised and easier access to capital, knowledge, expertise, and support infrastructure outside their geographical area, facilitating the development of innovative, sustainable and competitive products, services and companies. The initiatives are initially focused on co-development between the partners Livsmedelsakademin, Netport Science Park, Nifa and SP Food and Bioscience/RISE on concepts, methods and tools for professional advice, such as sustainable business development, open innovation and multicultural innovation processes. The long-term goal is that Swedish small and medium-sized food companies have an efficient innovation and development process and that they quickly reach the national and international market with sustainable, competitive products. More actors and geographical areas must be included in the activities along the duration of the project. Overall, this makes food a Swedish area of strength and an important regional growth factor.
