Goal The overall goal is to contribute to Dalarna having a more innovative and entrepreneurial business that is strong in national and international competition and that Dalarna Science Park is an established innovation arena that is in demand by industry, the public sector and academia, primarily regionally, but also nationally and internationally. The goal of the project is for Dalarna Science Park to be developed into a modern and accessible arena that increases the number of innovative SMEs in the region. The project has 5 milestones linked to the functional areas after which the work is organised: — Business development: Offer process support to create more innovative and knowledge-intensive growth companies. — Innovation: Strengthen the region’s innovation capacity and create a favourable innovation climate and support companies’ renewal capacity. — Node and collaboration: Create collaborations, environments and activities that strengthen the regional innovation system. — Internationalisation: Create learning in international collaborations and support companies’ establishment on the international market. — Contact and communication: Communicate areas of strength and strengthen the image of Dalarna as an attractive region and spread the project’s offerings regionally. The implementation of the project is based on the core and support processes that define a well-developed Science Park as well as experiences from previous projects. In order to achieve the project’s goals, the implementation will be carried out in close collaboration with other actors within the innovation system, industry, academia and public organisations and collaboration will be sought with other actors both nationally and internationally. Guiding the work is the four prioritised focus areas within Dalarna’s Smart Specialisation Strategy and Digitalisation. Working methods The project will primarily offer process challenges to new and existing companies in business development, innovative development and internationalisation. Dalarna University and the region’s clusters will be necessary partners. The project will serve as an open, neutral environment where companies, research and business promoters meet and a function and node for cluster coordination will be created. The project will build capacity for increased internationalisation, both in clusters and companies, but also to be an attractive region. Great emphasis will be placed on communicating the project’s offerings to the region’s idea carriers, companies and entrepreneurs and a digital tool for communication is Verksamt.se. Digitalisation will be a common thread in all of the project’s activities. Results and effects At the end of the project, Dalarna Science Park will have developed into a modern and accessible innovation arena where development and growth in the region is created. Through the project, the region will have added new innovative growth companies as well as a number of existing companies that, through increased competitiveness, increased their turnover and internationalisation. The SPINN project is expected to lay the foundation for establishing the structural change required to maintain and strengthen the regional innovation system over time.
