The life of innovation

By creating a stronger regional innovation support system, the project will contribute to more innovations in Gävleborg, thereby strengthening competitiveness and increased employment. The overall goal of the project is to take a proper Innovationskliv in Gävleborg by creating a stronger regionally cohesive innovation support system that can contribute to more innovations in Gävleborg and thus strengthen competitiveness and increased employment. The project aims to achieve cross-border collaboration, geographically and organizationally, between publicly funded actors responsible for innovation development. The project will further create access to equal basic conditions for innovation development regardless of where in the county individuals and companies are located. This in turn requires a cohesive innovation system, with infrastructure, expertise and services in an effective interaction between different partners, where business, researchers, ideas, needs owners and entrepreneurs work in common processes. The project will help to bridge innovation gaps that prevent this flow. The project consists of three parts; Smart collaboration and Smart arenas, which have different target groups but are prerequisites for each other, as well as a cohesive communicative function to disseminate information and knowledge that increases regional attractiveness. Smart collaboration focuses on strengthening collaboration between the actors in the regional innovation support system in order to make it easier for idea carriers, innovators to take their idea on to an innovation. This will be achieved through common models to drive innovation processes, joint Data Management Platform (DMP) systems, common measurement methods and an inventory of the county’s test beds and describe how they can be made more accessible. A common Data Management Platform System (DMP) is a digital tool that enables a unified structure and tool to gather information and data about innovation projects and its benefits from the services of the innovation system. Today, each operator has its own database based on its defined needs, where different information about the innovation projects is isolated in different tools at each operator. Instead, the actors will update their subset of information in a common tool. It counteracts administrative ¿stuprör¿and provides an overall picture of the innovation processes. There are currently a number of systems on the market that need to be investigated and perhaps also needs to be adapted to function based on regional conditions Smart arenas are based on Gävleborg’s strength areas as stated in the smart specialisation strategy that will be adopted before summer 2017. There is a focus on the target group innovators that can be found in the public sector, academia, industry and civil society. Smart arenas will create meetings across sectoral boundaries that inspire and enable innovation and then take this on to products/services or development projects that in turn lead to new companies and increased employment. The Smart Arenas will contribute to increased knowledge about each area of strength and enable an entrepreneurial discovery process (EDP) between participants from, industry, academia, the public sector and civil society. EdP (in Swedish ¿process of entrepreneurial discovery¿) is a central concept in the work with smart specialisation that is about designing creative solutions to problems by combining resources and new partners, taking risks, experimenting, looking for new ideas in the value chain or entering new value chains. The ultimate goal is to introduce innovative solutions to the market and thereby create growth and jobs. From the process of entrepreneurial discovery, a number of ideas and ideas for innovations and innovation collaborations are expected to emerge, which are then taken care of and further developed in the regional innovation support system.
