Green Agenda – Resource-efficient and climate-smart construction and management in practice

Goal The overall goal is to drive the development of a resource- and climate-efficient sustainable construction and real estate sector in central Sweden. Processes are developed based on challenge-driven innovation and streamlining through smart specialisation and digitalisation. Project objectives: The project will create the best possible conditions for growth and renewal in the construction and real estate companies by stimulating the development of new services and products that lead to energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact. Subgoals – The client trail is developed as a driving force and Builtialog Dalarna’s proven process development models as a collaborative platform. — Develop models and meeting places for knowledge sharing and dissemination of knowledge. — Increased wood construction and development of wood construction techniques – Forming a regional platform for efficient, quality-assured building and management processes – Develop and spread knowledge about climate-efficient construction and management projects – Create physical innovation environments for the development of resource and climate issues in collaborations between industry, academia and society. Drive digitalisation in the industry to support more resource- and climate-efficient action in everyday life. — Develop planning so that the transition to a resource- and climate-efficient society is perceived attractive Expected results at project conclusions – Resource and climate work finds structures, develops physical sites and connects research and development. — Test beds and innovation arenas developed between academia, industry and society. — Companies find competence for employment and development. The challenges lead to companies that do good business in the field. — Dalarna is considered one of the leading regions in the country for timber construction. Increased gender equality and diversity among the target group. More companies have begun the digital journey. — Communication is developed in social media at least containing website, newsletter, Facebook and blog. — A Winning Application has been filed. — Builtialog Dalarna should be regarded by external actors as a leader in resource efficient and climate-efficient construction and management. Quantitative, measurable targets: Implement a skills exchange program at least containing: 3 seminars, 6 workshops, 3 study visits 3 new projects initiated 10 companies have established development projects 3 companies have developed research projects Expected long-term effects The project has contributed to addressing resource and climate issues in everyday processes as a natural and obvious part. More companies have a deeper understanding of their role in an emerging circular economy. Relations between society, academia and industry are developed so that good business is done, new companies are formed and new competent positions are implemented. Society’s challenges form the basis for business and business development. Dalarna does good business in the areas of retirement homes, housing in the village, wood construction and energy-smart construction. Structures and methods are developed for challenge-driven processes. Dalarna University strengthens its organisation for research in construction physics and has high wood technology expertise available to the county’s municipalities and companies. Students in the construction, energy, management and planning programmes feel involved in the development of the business sector and experience Dalarna as a good innovation environment. The number of wood-producing companies is increasing with a broadened product programme. Collaborations, cluster formations between smaller companies are increasing. Companies in the industry have expanded international contacts and product and service portfolio adapted for foreign businesses.
