Choice of roads 2030

The goal of the project is to develop a strategic approach where Region Örebro County, the county’s municipalities and other important actors systematically focus on a common goal and use existing structures, instruments and tools to accelerate the transition of the transport sector into fossil-independent in a feasible and efficient way for the region. This will be done by developing a regional vehicle and fuel strategy. The strategy will highlight the competences and conditions that exist in the county for producers and consumers, as well as what efforts should be made to create an even distribution between women and men. The strategy is developed by first identifying a current situation in a current analysis of the region and its conditions with regard to the infrastructure for fuel and energy supply. A target for 2030 is then identified based on the region’s development plans, overall objectives and strategies as well as the government’s goal of a fossil-independent transport system. Both passenger and freight transports are taken into account both at present and target. Then the areas that are considered most important to work in the region are identified and prioritised. The strategy aims to provide the basis for Region Örebro County’s own procurement of vehicles, fuels and transport services (including public transport). It can also serve as a basis for various regional development efforts and contribute to the transition to a bio-based economy.
