Framework project corporate support – Environmental investments in Gävleborg II

Region Gävleborg follows the intentions of the Regional Development Strategy, RUS, and sees sustainability issues as important to integrate into the regional development work. Environmental and climate issues have a strong position within Region Gävleborg and long-term work is conducted to integrate the sustainability perspective into project funds and corporate support so that these issues are further strengthened and have an impact. In the 2017 condition letter, the Government has commissioned regional development managers to develop and implement a regional action plan to integrate and strengthen climate and environmental perspectives in regional growth work for the period 2017-2020. Energy issues related to climate and the environment are part of the mission. The aim is to have an increased impact on these perspectives in strategies, programmes and efforts in regional growth work. The action plan, which has been developed in cooperation with the County Administrative Board and representatives of industry and the public sector, prioritises the following efforts to strengthen work with climate and environmental perspectives in the regional development work in Gävleborg: —Support the emergence of innovative companies in the environmental and climate area -Support the development of circular business models linked to SMEs. —Companies that develop products and services that are more energy efficient or have a lower climate impact than those in the market and at the same time lead to increased employment. Companies that make investments to make their own production more energy efficient and at the same time lead to increased employment. —Support for small and medium-sized enterprises to be able to map their energy consumption in order to improve energy efficiency. In Region Gävleborg’s budget document “society building” for 2018 the effort “Make sure that the county’s industry continues to step ahead in the transition to a climate-smart society” as politically prioritised. Since 2016, Region Gävleborg has run the EU-funded project Ramprojekt Business Support – Environmental Investment in Gävleborg as a special initiative in business support. The targeted initiative is expected to give the business community in Gävleborg a powerful support to increase the transition rate to a green, sustainable economy. In order to achieve continuity in the work, the project now wants to continue this initiative and is therefore seeking funds in this call for continuation. The overall objective of the framework project is for small and medium-sized companies to expand their market with new products in environmentally driven markets and strengthen their competitiveness through more efficient energy use while helping to achieve decided energy and climate targets. The framework project’s milestones: 1 Information efforts on support opportunities are completed. 2 At least 10¿20 applications from companies have been processed and decided. 3 The investments of at least SEK 80 million have been completed and support is paid. 4 100 % of the funding granted shall have contributed positively to the regional environmental goal “Limited environmental impact”. 5 Evaluation is carried out by reviewers from other administration within Region Gävleborg.
