Overall goals, project goals and milestones The overall goal of the project is to promote innovation propensity and increase innovation capacity among Värmlands small and medium-sized enterprises, mainly but not only in manufacturing industry. The project goal is to support the SMEs of Värmland in the development of product and production innovation where at least ten innovative production setups will be tested sharply in KLF to study, analyse and improve the production solution. In order to achieve the project goal, two sub-goals have been set: Sub-target 1: Increased propensity for innovation and innovation among the manufacturing SMEs in Värmland. By offering the opportunity to test innovative manufacturing setups, alternatively test manufacturing setups adapted to product innovations (for which there is currently no directly suitable manufacturing solutions), the threshold for innovations is reduced and different manufacturing solutions can be analysed, compared and improved. At the same time, this means training in the new production structure. Sub-target 2: Methodology/tool for measuring the effects of LP training on organisations (mainly SMEs) and its employees. The goal is to establish a methodology for measuring the effects of training in Lean Production (LP). Currently, there is no accepted method for measuring the effects of LP training and those that exist have some shortcomings, not least with regard to the measurement of horizontal goals (environment, equality, diversity). How to work to achieve the project goals The project will work through different work packages. WP2 brings together experiences from trainings/trainings given in Karlstad Lean Factory. It also includes analysing and evaluating the sharp tests of KLF included in WP5. Within WP 3 it is sought to develop a simpler tool that explicitly takes the horizontal criteria into account and can also be used to periodically check the status of ¿lean maturity¿. Companies with innovative ideas can test different manufacturing structures in the KLF (WP5). This can involve innovative production setups for an existing product, first-time production of innovative products, or a combination such as innovative production setups for innovative products. Companies can do this alone or with a supplier network perspective. WP4 refers to studies of why companies succeed or fail in innovations. How regional industry is to participate in the implementation. The business community will be involved, among other things, by the companies being able to test new innovative production setups in Karlstad Lean Factory (KLF). In this way, companies can test, evaluate and develop their future production systems. Expected results and benefits at the end of the project At the end of the project, Karlstad Lean Factory (KLF) will be an established industrial test bed for innovative production. A significant number of companies will have tested various innovative production setups in KLF (the goal is 10 companies with potential for 15-20). KLF should have become an international benchmark for how a simulator environment can be used all the way from Lean training to innovative product and production development. A significant contribution to knowledge about the effects of Lean training/training must have been generated in the project. Develop a simpler tool that companies can use. Although the effects can be difficult to quantify, the horizontal criteria should be included, not least to create awareness and to address them every time the tool is used.
