The circular economy is based on a philosophy of sharing economy and resource flows. One’s waste can become the other’s resource. Food waste from private individuals (collected by the public sector) and the restaurant world can be turned into biogas. From residual flows, sustainable fish farming can be developed – fish are grown in pools of recycled concrete heated by waste heat and the feed comes from biological waste products in a so-called flocking process. These examples show that cooperation for circular development of our regions is cross-border and cross-sectoral. Since there is strong added value with such a approach, no particular industry or public department has been pointed out within the target group. The primary target group of the project is the business community and public actors. The catchment area is Kronoberg and Kalmar counties. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to a sustainable transition in Kronoberg and Kalmar County, which benefits both the region’s environment, growth and competitiveness. The goal of the project is that more companies and organisations in Region Kronoberg and Kalmar will adopt the circular economy perspective in their activities.
