Spatial Data Innovation

In Gävleborg, there is a need for companies, especially small and medium-sized, to strengthen their competitiveness by raising their awareness and knowledge of the possibilities of digitalisation. Spatial Data Innovation is about measuring, positioning and visualisation of 3D data – concise 3D digitisation (space data). Substantial research resources around 3D digitisation have been built up within the University and there are a number of actors within 3D digitisation within the Region. The project aims to create a test bed with the aim of developing cutting-edge expertise around 3D digitalisation within academia and companies within 3D digitalisation, but also intends to increase the knowledge of other small and medium-sized companies in the region around 3D digitisation opportunities. This will in the long run lead to innovative products, services or work processes. 3D digitalisation contributes to economic, ecological and social sustainability. In industry, 3D measurement contributes to increased reliability with lower costs, lower environmental emissions and increased workplace safety. 3D positioning technology improves transport logistics, leading to lower costs and emissions. 3D visualisation creates more useful information systems for a better working environment and with gamification it attracts individuals outside the usual recruitment target groups to qualified jobs.
