North Sweden Cleantech – Future climate-smart Innovation Site

The overall goal of the project is to strengthen the innovation capabilities of small and medium-sized companies in Västerbotten County, Norrbotten County and Örnsköldsvik Municipality in a way that leads to sustainable, growing companies with commercially viable products and services with environmental relevance and strengthened collaboration between academia, municipality/region and industry in terms of the development of innovations within the priority development areas of renewable energy, smart sustainable cities and bioeconomy. The project has two milestones; To strengthen the innovation activity of SMEs and to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises innovation activities and business support to startups to develop and commercialise green innovations. The project’s activities consist of analysing clusters, focus areas and target markets as well as creating contact areas for partners in international markets. The project will provide business and innovation support to development projects with climate and environmental benefits. Furthermore, the project will support the development of a metakluster whose task is to support the further development of a number of existing clusters in order to enable them to take the step further to become so-called ¿lead clusters¿in an international perspective. Expected effects of the project are that three innovative value chains for sustainable development have been identified, that innovation activities in 15 companies have increased, that three international innovation collaborations have been developed, that three lead clusters have been developed and three companies have implemented business models in the circular economy.
