With the project, the partners want to make a force gathering in Blekinge to contribute to increasing the business sector’s capacity for economic renewal. This should be done by developing and establishing a technology accelerator. The reason for the project is that Blekinge’s development in recent years shows a negative trend in terms of both growth and ability for economic renewal and in the Collaboration Partners’ problem analysis, it has been found that the main problem is that the business sector in the county is not sufficiently developing new innovative products, services and processes. The project is based on one of Blekinge’s areas of strength, digitalisation, which is highlighted as central to innovation initiatives in the regional development strategy. The county has expertise in digital technology, both in business and at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH). This expertise aims to gather in an environment where students, entrepreneurs, researchers, companies and public actors can turn to develop technical concepts into verified prototypes in a structured process. The prototypes that are deemed to have the greatest potential are offered place in Blekinge Business Incubator or picked up by existing companies. Digitalisation will be the platform that enables innovations in a variety of industries. The focus will initially be on technical concepts that are based on Blue Science Park’s focus areas: Marine Technology, It/Telecom, eHealth and Smart Society. Technology ideas with potential in other areas will also be able to accelerate. Output is eight prototypes of technical innovations that are verified, which have great commercial potential and are ready for business incubation at Blekinge Business Incubator.
