¿FOSSILBRANDLEFRIA municipalities in Skåne 2.0¿is a continuation project that builds on the results of the projects ¿FOSSILBRANDLEFRIA municipalities in southern Skåne¿and ¿FOSSILBRANDFRIA municipalities in northern Skåne that were implemented during 2016-2018. In these projects, whose partnership consisted of the Skåne County Administrative Board, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and 10 municipalities, a platform for joint work with the transition to fossil fuel-free energy use was established and now seven (Eslöv, Helsingborg, Höör, Kristianstad, Lund, Malmö and Tomelilla) were chosen by the ten municipalities to continue and develop cooperation towards new goals together with Skåne County Administrative Board. The target group for the project is municipalities in Skåne that have a clear desire to go ahead in climate work. It is primarily in municipal activities that the measures will be implemented and the municipal organisations are therefore the primary target group. The measures included in the application aim to provide municipalities with tools to reduce their fossil energy use and climate impact, primarily within their own operations, but also through measures that reduce the indirect climate impact resulting from the consumption of products and services. The measures will have a major impact on various companies operating in these sectors and the project will therefore contribute to a faster transition process and competitive advantages for these companies. The project aims to reduce their use of fossil energy to a large extent by participating municipalities, which means reduced greenhouse gas emissions and thus reduced climate impact. Participating municipalities are expected to be the forerunners of other municipalities in Skåne as well as in the rest of Sweden.
