For almost 20 years, the OECD has carried out territorial reviews (Trritorial Review). OECD has methods of analysis that are useful to support regional development in the specific geography they are investigating. The results are put into a national and international context with a number of recommendations from the OECD regarding the region’s strengths, weaknesses and development areas. Based on good experiences that other regions have had from making this Review, Region Gotland also wants to commission the OECD to develop a Territorial Review of Gotland. A Territorial Review will provide support for the Gotland Region in the regional development responsibility and form the basis for effective growth work and implementation of regional strategies such as design and revisions of regional development strategies (RUS), integration strategy, gender equality strategy, international strategy, rural strategy, tourism strategy and world heritage strategy. The benefit for target groups in academia and industry consists of access to international comparisons, expertise and recommendations. Territorial Review Gotland is expected to focus on the region’s actors in the work on growth work, increased awareness of achieving within the EU agreed goals for strengthened competitiveness, inclusion, strengthened commitment to working more with EU-funded programmes. Overall, the results will enable stronger competitiveness, which is more inclusive, circular and cost-effective.
