The multi-use of forests involves a combination of traditional forestry with small-scale wood processing, tourism, hunting/fishing and food production. Multiuse contributes to solutions to many of society’s sustainability challenges in the environment, economy and social conditions. Small multi-use companies with forest as a base need access to support and structures for long-term development and growth. Småland and Gotland have many forest owners and good conditions for developing products and services in multi-use. The project will generate an industry organisation responsible for long-term development of companies within the focus areas of organisation, competence development and innovation. The companies will carry out the majority of the project’s activities with the support of expert expertise, innovation support and project management. Development work will take place in the form of workshops and competence development is based on applied methodology on demo farms. The main challenges are gender equality and environmental sustainability. The project will contribute to the overall goal of increasing opportunities to live, live and work in rural areas for both women and men.
