The overall goal of the project is to contribute to a more profitable as well as energy- and resource-efficient business in Eastern Sweden. Händelö Eco Industrial Park (HEIP) and the companies included receive visits from national and international visitor groups interested in sustainable, renewable and resource-efficient solutions. Today, this activity has nothing in common and structured working methods, is not followed up or has a packaging aimed at different target groups. The project goal is to develop Händelö Eco Industrial Parks (HEIP) activities and to package and disseminate the experiences and knowledge that has been built up around industrial and urban symbiosis (ius) so that it can provide support for other companies in Eastern Sweden that intend to resource- and energy efficiency their operations. The project has the potential to lead to reduced carbon dioxide emissions, saved kWh and increased renewable energy. A Symbios Centre of this kind also has the potential for savings in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. The project also wants to contribute to increased demand for energy efficient and renewable products linked to both production processes and transport. Once a visitor centre is established, it will be able to be used as a demonstration environment by the actors in Eastern Central Sweden who work with business and innovation development at SMEs.
