Circular economy for a more resource-efficient Öms

Circular economy, where waste in principle does not arise and where natural resources are used efficiently, is something that is high on the international agenda and in this area there is a lot to do in a number of sectors that at the same time provide new business opportunities for SMEs that provide, or with the ambition to develop innovative and energy-efficient solutions that meet these challenges. The overall objective of the energy offices’ circular economy work is to contribute to a competitive, energy-efficient and resource-efficient industry. The circular economy is a fairly new area of activity for most energy offices. However, there are conditions for this to become an increasingly important area for them in the future. The aim of this feasibility study is to develop a knowledge base on how the energy offices in Eastern Sweden can proceed to concretely support circular transition work in small and medium-sized enterprises. The knowledge base will provide an up-to-date picture of good examples of initiatives that carry out(t)s in different locations in Sweden and within the Öms area and in some cases could be copied and carried out directly within, for example, public administration. This could, for example, refer to how public procurement can be used for increased circularity and reduced waste volume through the products and services provided by SMEs, or efforts against industry that energy and climate advisers could use in their operations.
