Yrkeshögskolan is a post-secondary and flexible form of education under strong expansion, designed to meet changing needs in working life. According to the Swedish Agency for Higher Vocational Education, 93 % of students have received a job after graduation, a major success factor is that working life participates in the development and implementation of the programmes. The region’s working life consists largely of small and medium-sized enterprises, stating skills shortages as the single biggest obstacle to growth. At the same time, Kronobergs län 2019 is the 4th smallest county in the number of places applied for education to the Swedish Agency for Higher Vocational Education. This poses questions about the strategy of working life and the client competence of polytechnic education as an active transition function. The overall goal of the feasibility study is to analyse regional conditions for sustainable growth through the University of Applied Sciences of companies and business promoters. This is done by examining the client competence of professional roles within the Yrkeshögskolan of companies in selected industries. Are there any gaps and obstacles for effective interaction between the form of education and the region’s companies and business promoters? The project will result in a pre-study report, this will clarify the part of the companies’ competence supply process and include a knowledge/information matrix around the university of applied sciences. In the event of a possible future implementation project, a digital platform is established in which regional providers interact with working life from needs inventory to educational initiatives.
