Innovation system Gotland

The project is a collaborative project between Uppsala University Innovation (UUI), Region Gotland (RG) and Science Park Gotland (SPG), which aims to strengthen the Gotland innovation system. Based on Gotland’s health care (in), and the potential in working with innovations in it, the project will build and apply, as well as disseminate a model and a working method to promote idea development in collaboration. Traditionally, Gotland’s healthcare has had a limited research exchange and worked sparsely with innovations, while at the same time knowledge-intensive businesses where advanced products and services are part of everyday life. The project will work on a project model developed in a previous regional fund project that UUI has conducted in Östra Mellansverige, mutual access for innovation power. Allowing employees in working with and developing innovative ideas is a central part of the project. Researchers and practitioners have the opportunity to conduct feasibility studies, which refers to collaboration on innovative ideas. The project involves the implementation of 20 such collaborations. The project owners see that these feasibility studies are an important tool for creating valuable relationships between Gotland’s healthcare and academia. Ideas that are deemed to have commercialisation potential will also be able to get business development support through Science Park Gotland. The goal of the project is that healthcare businesses have strengthened their innovation capacity and enable innovations to reach the market and strengthen the business sector of Gotland. Experience and learning will be disseminated during the project in order to contribute to strengthening the conditions for research exchange and innovation also in other fields of activity on Gotland,
