The Swedish Energy Agency is commissioned by the Government to enable Gotland to become a pilot in the transition to a sustainable energy system. The intention is for Gotland to reach the energy and climate policy goals decided by the Riksdag before the rest of Sweden to inspire other regions in Sweden to learn about how energy and climate change can be achieved. This project is based on the roadmap for Energipilot Gotland developed by the Swedish Energy Agency within the framework of the government assignment. This project includes measures in the sub-areas of the roadmap fossil-free transport and fossil-free and robust electrical systems: — Initiatives for transition to a fossil-free transport sector on Gotland – Initiatives to accelerate the conversion rate on Gotland The project is a framework project where the Swedish Energy Agency will hold 2 targeted calls to effectively manage the interdependence between fossil-free transport and a robust electrical system. The target group for the calls is mainly small and medium-sized enterprises. The primary purpose of the project is for SMEs and other organisations to be the implementers of innovative projects with high relevance for energy and climate transition and a safe energy supply. The project will result in support for at least 10 scalable projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector, to security of supply and a robust electrical system on Gotland. The most important individual results that the Swedish Energy Agency wants to achieve is that the project (through the projects that receive support) has a clear effect on the overall objectives; reduced greenhouse gas emissions, security of supply and a robust electrical system, and that the projects that receive support are also scalable and thus possible to implement theoretically and practically for other actors on Gotland and the rest of Sweden.
