Transnational Component FoodLust

Overall goals, project goals and possible milestones The overall goal is to create a more resilient food system, sustainable both from an ecological, social and economic perspective. The project goal is to learn from good examples from other countries in the Baltic Sea region and spread these to companies and the public sector in Sweden, spread Swedish good examples to partners, and expand and consolidate international cooperation. Sub-target 1. Creating resilient food systems Good examples that accelerate development towards greater robustness in the food system should be identified and documented. The focus will be on ecology, climate and the status of the Baltic Sea and urban planning at large. Sub-target 2. Profitability and new financing solutions for SME Innovative approach to procurement, business development and financing forms that create more stable and profitable food companies must be identified and documented. Sub-target 3. Interpretation of common food legislation Good examples of interpretation and practice of EU procurement and food safety laws must be identified and documented. How to work to achieve the goal of the project The transnational component complements MatLust with international perspectives and good examples from the Baltic Sea countries. These exchanges are broadened and deepened.Contacts are made with PA Bioeconomy, PA Secure and PA Health within the EUSBSR, partners within STRATKIT and other actors who may have ideas about good examples. Knowledge about organic production, health and the environment is acquired. Brief description of the project’s activities International exchanges to build networks and alliances and study other people’s solutions Exchanges with partners in the SI project Diet for a Green Planet, Flagship, Kassel University and the ERUF project STRATKIT, as well as participation in conferences and meetings organised by EUSBSR, STRATKIT. Documentation of best practice in partner countries. A researcher from the Stockholm Recilience Centre is linked to the project. In collaboration with the researcher, identification and documentation will be made of at least 10 best practice in activities that lead to resilient food systems and improved status of the Baltic Sea, business solutions that lead to sustainable business with good profitability, and how LOU and HACCP are applied in a good way in different countries. Investigations of specific themes. Investigations of success factors in integrating food issues within a municipality, obstacles and opportunities for transition to sustainable food systems, or how resilience principles can be used to create robust food systems. Investigations will be based on a system perspective and investigate relations and networks between different food actors with a focus on regional and local levels. Communication and documentation MatLust has its own website and several social media channels. Through these, events are communicated within the transnational component, the documentation generated around good examples from other countries, as well as the investigations that the researcher makes. Knowledge transfer to MatLust’s target group also takes place here. The project’s expected results and benefits at the end of the project period Knowledge has spread to both primary and secondary target groups on concrete examples of how in other countries try to create more resilient food systems, giving actors ideas on how their role in the food system needs to be developed. Increased understanding of the need for regenerative (circular and building) production systems and what obstacles need to be overcome in order for these to become profitable. The target group has come to know the ways of different countries to relate to EU food legislation. Södertälje Municipality has started a process to form a Flagship within the EUSBSR Project Area Bioeconomy with the theme Diet for a Green Planet.
