This application for feasibility study involves providing a basis for, in the long run, to investigate one or more alternative management methods or flows at some stage of the management of primary forest fuels in Kronoberg and Kalmar counties. The overall goal is to better utilise the resource available in forest-based bioenergy. The project goal is to create a plan to demonstrate an alternative flow/management of alternative biofuels. This application is about reaching five milestones. The milestones that this application concerns are: — Analysis of the current situation regarding the availability, flows and use of different types of biofuels – an analysis of alternative biofuel products for an understanding of alternative flows, management and products of forest fuels – business model analysis that provides a picture of different wills, obstacles and opportunities in the circular value chains of bioenergy – the development of a proposal for the design of a forthcoming implementation project where the initial idea is a demonstrator for an alternative biofuel flow containing choice of technology and sustainability. — Proposal for financing a forthcoming implementation project To achieve the milestones, there will be: — collect, process, compile and present statistics. — interview different stakeholders in the value chain of biofuel, from forest owners to end users. — conduct literature studies – conduct a workshop. The project will be led by Linnaeus University. Part activities are carried out by Linnaeus University and in some parts an external actor when the work goes outside Linnaeus University’s main activities. A reference group with representatives from the industry, Energy Office Southeast and Småland Forest – and wood strategy will support the work by being able to broaden the perspective and contribute with different approaches. The project has been developed in consultation with industry representatives, Energy Office Southeast, Småland Forest Strategy, Region Kronoberg, and Region Kalmar. The target group is mainly different actors in the biofuel value chain, from forest owners to end users.
