Unique historical Kalmar County

The overall goal of the project is for cultural heritage to be coordinated and visible. The development of cultural heritage will give the county increased attractiveness and small and medium-sized companies should increase their competitiveness. This will be done through the development and collaboration with stakeholders within cultural heritage and tourism industry. By highlighting the values, increasing accessibility and developing the sites, the project will highlight the rich range of cultural historical sites and people in Kalmar County and create positive effects for visitors, municipalities and the region. The Unique Historical Kalmar County project is based on the work carried out in the Unique Historical Kalmar Öland project during 2017-2020. This project has clarified the need for a clear focus on getting cultural heritage and tourism industry to collaborate and collaborate. The Corona summer of 2020 has strengthened this view and showed how culture and nature attract broad target groups. By improving the potential of cultural heritage in the field of tourism and cultural heritage, small and medium-sized enterprises can increase turnover and employment. This means a stronger competitiveness for the tourism industry in the region and increases the attractiveness for both residents and visitors. Several of the cultural heritage sites lack infrastructure or staffing, many have a too wide range that is difficult to package and they are not sold as a whole. Citizens do not have knowledge of cultural heritage and the potential is not visible to the business community. To solve the problem of cultural heritage coordination and visibility, the project is based on the needs of cultural heritage actors, destination companies and tourism industry. The aim of the activities is to create long-term and sustainable forms of cooperation that generate increased interest, accessible and qualitative encounters with cultural heritage for visitors and residents. It will contribute to a stronger brand for the region, create visitor guidance, strengthen the opportunities for business development, engage cultural heritage actors and knowledge development for visitors and residents.
