Circular business steps South Sweden

The project is a collaborative project between the business organisation CirEko and the association Sustainable Development Skåne (HUT Skåne). The aim of the project is to support small and medium-sized companies (SMF) in Skåne and Blekinge to switch to a circular economy in order to strengthen their competitiveness in order to meet increased demand for sustainable circular products and services. According to the project owner, knowledge about the circular economy and circular business ideas is low among small and medium-sized enterprises, and also among business-promoting actors. One reason is that the demand/market for circular services and products is immature, but with national and EU strategies for a transition to a circular economy, where public procurement becomes an important tool, the market will increase. The project owner sees that the companies that are changing in time will have a clear market share and the project will help to strengthen these conditions for Skåne and Blekinge SMEs. In the project, 40 participating companies will gain increased knowledge of circular business transition and acquaint themselves with the circular economy through activities where the project uses new and innovative methods. The project is also aimed at business-promoting actors in order to increase their knowledge so that they can provide advice based on the circular economy. At the end of the project, participating companies will have formulated a circular objective for their operations, the region’s circular companies will be highlighted as good examples and a advisory bank will have begun to build up to pilot the companies to business advisors working on circular methods. After the project, the participants will be offered continued support in the transition to a circular economy based on the circular objectives they have formulated, then within the framework of the project owners’ regular activities or through other future project initiatives.
