Renewable hydrogen has sailed on the agenda as one of the renewable fuels that can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the transport sector and which can also be produced locally. In many parts of the world, the focus is on hydrogen gas and Fossil-free Sweden has been commissioned to develop a national hydrogen strategy. In order for Blekinge to be ready for this transition, Energikontor Sydost AB wants to conduct a feasibility study. The feasibility study will map the hydrogen chain’s players in Blekinge, the potential for hydrogen production and use and how to continue to work for hydrogen gas to be introduced in Blekinge. In this respect, previous experiences in the outside world, stakeholders in the county, sustainability aspects and local and regional conditions and ambitions are taken into account. In the short term, the pilot study will create networks for the hydrogen chain’s players, increase knowledge about hydrogen gas throughout the entire chain and create a plan to develop and test production of renewable hydrogen for various purposes in Blekinge. In the long term, the feasibility study will create the conditions for different actors to use together the will and potential to manufacture and use renewable hydrogen in the county.
