The feasibility study aims to find out the conditions for establishing internationally competitive testing environments within COLDTECH in Jämtland and the possibility of attracting international companies to establish themselves in the region. This can help to increase the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises in Jämtland, both through companies that own the infrastructure for these environments, but also for companies that can deliver products and services to the test environments. Through interviews and site visits to potential test beds in the county, you can evaluate the potential of these test beds. Through PEAK Region’s work in the Interreg project snow-rich, the potential for developing and selling more test environments in snow and cold climates in Jämtland County has been identified, but that needs to be developed and packaged, which is based on this feasibility study. The feasibility study will focus on four areas where the region is deemed to have comparative advantages and areas of strength within COLDTECH: Vehicle tests, winter sports tests, renewable energy and health in a cold climate. To give exchange on innovation, development and growth in the county based on a global competitive context, the feasibility study needs to look at the county’s comparative advantages, such as living environment, sparseness, proximity to decision-makers and our climate as a competitive advantage. To this, we need to connect with actors and cutting-edge knowledge that can help drive development, and that this can be carried out in a sustainable way; economically, socially and environmentally. This gives opportunities to strengthen the entire business structure in the county. The feasibility study will produce an in-depth map of interesting commercial testing and development environments within COLDTECH, analyse and concretise the environments to see which ones have the right conditions. Finally, the feasibility study will force the owners of these environments together with industry and the public sector to establish the foundations of an organisation that will be a common entry point for collaboration.
