Climate innovations

The purpose of this feasibility study is to develop a proposal for a multi-regional business development support system to transform climate-related innovations from research environments to successful companies. It can be innovations in areas such as: energy production, energy reduction, energy storage, food production, new biomaterials, recycling, circular handling of products, construction technology, water purification, etc. The feasibility study will include activities such as; interviews with researchers/innovators who, have developed a growth company, have a climate-related innovation that they are considering commercialising, as well as interviews with relevant major companies. Furthermore, meetings with people working with commercialisation of innovations within KTH, SU, RISE and IVL, as well as various types of public and private national and international investors. During the feasibility study, we will also identify networks for female entrepreneurs to investigate the conditions for getting more female entrepreneurs interested in the climate area. The project’s expectations are that the feasibility study will result in a fully funded implementation application, where important actors such as the City of Stockholm, Region Stockholm, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University support an implementation project. If the feasibility study leads to a full-scale implementation project, it is expected to provide closer cooperation between small and large companies and between the small start-up innovation companies in the climate sector and private and public investors. Furthermore, it is also expected to provide significantly more new growth companies based on climate-related innovations, which are growing internationally and provide increased tax revenues and increased employment to the region.
