Sorting quite easily

Region Stockholm has identified that there is a need to map what the degree of correct sorting looks like in different parts of the county. The correct sorting of waste in the Stockholm region is a prerequisite for it to also be disposed of and treated in a way that is both efficient and climate-smart without contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. By constructing map analyses that show the climate impact of the waste that each municipality leaves for combustion, a clear picture of where the problems are is created. The present preliminary study will therefore investigate what the scope and distribution of waste sorting looks like in the region’s municipalities, which emission levels can be related to different municipalities'/areas waste sorting and how large greenhouse gas emissions generated by the waste left to incinerate. The aim of the feasibility study is to create an aggregate view of the region’s waste-related emissions as well as to create the conditions for a subsequent implementation project. Based on the mapping carried out, the feasibility study will result in a basis that shows which data is available, a prototype for mapping tools and a knowledge base that provides a current picture of a possible implementation project.
