Fordonsdalen graduate school – a pre-study

The automotive industry is one of Sweden’s most important industries and the single largest export sector in Sweden. In society today, there is a rapid transition driven by climate change and rapid technological development. This transition is also underway in the global automotive industry, where developments point to increased automation, digitisation, electrification and connected solutions. Applicants see that this development entails a rapid and clear shift for what will be demanded by subcontractors in the industry in the future. With this in mind, the preliminary study wants to investigate the conditions for establishing a research school in between Sweden. This with the vision of contributing to the region’s automotive industry as the winner of the global technology and innovation transformation in the industry. The feasibility study aims to identify relevant actors in the automotive industry in between Sweden from as well small and between large companies, as large companies. The target group is intended to consist of both actors from the traditional automotive world as well as the IT and tech sectors. Furthermore, the feasibility study intends to create an engagement among identified actors to participate in a possible implementation project. The pre-study activities consist of target group analysis, interviews, and external monitoring where the main focus is to inventory the needs, will and conditions of the target group to integrate the graduate school into its existing organisation. Concrete suggestions on how such an integration may look like are planned to be developed in dialogue with interested companies during the feasibility study. The feasibility study is expected to have generated a basis for a possible implementation project.
