SA.41471(2015/X) Purpose_public_aid: Article 25 of Regulation (EC) No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the internal market in application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty (OJ Urz. EU L 187/1 of 26.06.2014). The research project aims to develop technologies for the production of ecological and biodegradable packaging in a multilayer system using plant components. PLA packaging components will be complemented by PHA produced by microorganisms and flexible biodegradable polymers, fillers, hydrolytic stablilisers and chain extensions. The content of the PHA composition will increase impact strength, and control of the amounts of composites will allow you to reduce the biological distribution time of the packaging after consumption from a few to a dozen weeks. Reactive extrusion technology will be applied. The desired chemical transformation of component polymers will occur during the processing process and not only at the stage of the primary formation of the constituent polymers of the packaging material. New packaging will be more durable and resistant to mechanical crushing and damage than biodegradable packaging on the market. Innovative reactive extrusion technology will strengthen the hydrolytic resistance and mechanical strength of packaging and will enable the production of packaging with uniform distribution of the material throughout the packaging mass. The development and implementation of biopolymers processing technologies and the production of packaging controlled according to the needs, after which they will be fully biologically decomposed after consumption, is part of the idea of creating a group of “smart packaging” and the European Strategy for Plastics in the Circular Economy 2018. The newly developed multi-layer technology will allow the use of light fillers in the middle layers, which will reduce the weight of packaging and the tonnage of packaging substances entering the consumer markets.
