Development of an innovative formulation of a complex drug dedicated to geriatric patients in pain pharmacotherapy

Reference_Aid_programme: SA.41471(2015/X) Purpose_public_aid: Article: 25 of Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the internal market in the application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty Urz. EU L 187/1 of 26.06.2014).The project will carry out research work on the development of a technology for the manufacture of a complex drug in a selected form of a pharmaceutical capsule, tablet, granulate/powder packed in sachets, with a unique composition of active substances used in pain therapy. The innovativeness of the project is based on the combination in one medicinal product of substances with two different mechanisms of action, which none of the products currently available on the Polish market has. The current age distribution of the population of Poles combined with a high demand for painkillers are two undisputed arguments for the development of geriatric drugs. Pain pharmacotherapy is often based on the need for polytherapy. There are many advantages of combined pain pharmacotherapy, and above all, the possibility of obtaining an additive or synergistic effect. This allows, on the one hand, to increase therapeutic efficacy while at the same time reducing the risk of drug-related adverse reactions and allows the use of lower doses of individual medicines. Despite the widespread combination of two active substances in anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic clinical practice, there are surprisingly few controlled studies in such applications. This also results in a small number of medicines available on the Polish market containing a combination of NSAIDs with diastolic substances. This project aims to develop a concept and technology for the production of an innovative drug that will be dedicated to geriatric patients. The results obtained will allow applicants to develop procedures for cooperation on model development
